My Mini-Dob Telescope:

This is my Celestron Comet Catcher telescope mounted on a small

Dobsonian Altazimuth mount. The scope is a Schmidt-Newtonian design

with 5.5" of aperture and an f 3.64 optical system. The whole

scope is only about 20" long. The Dob mount separates into a flat base

plus the rocker box. This is done for easier transport.

Here is the other view.

Here is the scope pointed upwards. The altitude bearings are 4" ABS

pipe caps screwed to the scope rings. I needed to add electrical tape to

bearings because I needed more friction between the ABS and teflon pads.

The scope as shown is designed to be used on a table top.

The bottom of the scope has furniture leg supports to allow 3 legs to

be screwed in. The legs are 2.5' long and provide a nice viewing height

when sitting in a chair.

I am quite pleased with the performance of the scope and mount. This package

is so small and compact that it makes setup and teardown almost instantaneous.

I can set this up in about 5 seconds (1 minute with legs).
